The Japanese Consumer Electronics Company, Sony has announced that it is recalling its BRAVIA LCD TV’s after it was discovered that some of the parts were melting.
There has been eleven incidents reported in Japan, but Sony admitted that they put these faulty parts in the range across the world, including Europe, the US and Japan.
Each of the incidents reported smoke coming from the TVs and parts of the TV actually melting.
Sony has reported that they think the faulty part is a backlight system that is overheating and causing melting and fire.
When the Inquirer interviewed Assistant Commissioner for Community Safety from London’s Fire Brigade, Dave Brown, he said;
“The issue with Sony TV’s is a stark reminder of how dangerous electrical appliances can be if they malfunction.”
Most consumers and business owners aren’t aware or don’t think about the danger electrical appliances pose to people every day.
